"I was intrigued by the concept of a weight-loss novel. When I sat down to read it, I finished it within 2 days. Now, this in itself is huge, since I work full time, am Mom to two little girls, and really busy with community activities. So reading a book other than a children’s book and not being on vacation, is a rarity.
“There was something about this book that clicked with me. I printed out the habits and put them on my fridge. I told my husband about the book, and I got the [Lickety-Split Meals] cookbook out. And I read that book through cover to cover. Again, this was in-between all of my other activities, but it seemed to be the right time to make some changes. From there, I bought lemons for my water and now pretty much only drink water with lemon at meals and other times; put out a fruit bowl; made my first black bean salsa dip for a party; started bringing a bag of fruit/veggies to work for snacks; and worked on eating the good fats. Another huge one is I limited diet Cokes, which I used to drink 3-4 a day and I’ve only had about 4 in the last month!!
“Is it working? Well, I’ve already lost around 13 pounds and feel really good. There isn’t the ‘all or nothing’ feeling, so I still had some ice cream with my kids and didn’t feel too guilty about it. My sweet tooth is really curbed, especially chocolate, which the fruit definitely helped in that area. And it seems like a lifestyle that I can live with for a very long time. Thanks!
